P2099....OK!!

Here the story. 06 F350 6.0 PSD 6 speed manual, never chipped, completely stock, 260 km, oil and filter changes before due, don't drive hard, rarely hit 3000 rpm

Had warrantee till a couple months ago, past 3 years 4 injectors, and a blown turbo. The past 20 k ran great

I decided to keep her rather then buy new, so bodywork and full paint was just done, Front end work, incl. BDS duel steering stabilisers.

Just took for test drive yesterday after installing stabilisers and it seemed very sluggish, no get up and go, turbo boost seemed to be there but no jump.

Went for a longer run to town, ran ok for 10 k and then the loss of power thing. made a stop and went to start.... no start.. wait a min start right up. Drive away but something is wrong... no power

Made another stop and it started right up, while idle for 10 sec, idle went real slow and then stalled, Engine light came on

waited a min, started right up, had a couple more starts and stops before heading home, one more stall and loss of power for 40 k drive.

Got home got the P2099

Heres the thing...I am going to be doing a lot of highway driving in the next few months.

Should I just get the HPOP, IPR , IPC, and maybe a new set of injectors.

Any suggestions would be a big help, I don't mind doing the work myself, as I have done extensive PSD work on the first generation PSD`s

I guess it might be time to dive into this one...

Just talked to my PSD mechanic (X ford tec gone independent) He said more then likely oil leaking by. Suggested isolate HPOP from oil galleries and preasure test galleries. If Galleries test ok, HPOP probably blowing by. If preasure test shows leak in galleries, probably a o-ring somewhere, injectors perhaps.

For the $$ I might have to spend on labour im thinkin about diving into it my self. I have the time now.

The last major PSD work I did was on my 94, 95 PSD 7.3. Pulled the IDI out of my 94 and installed a PSD in it. Huge job!! Wire harness under dash.. even the windshield wiper motor had to be changes because of a different plug..

Any way , I probably going to be asking a few questions along the way.

Ill try to get some pics up as I go.

Check BARO,MAP,EBP

05+ is common to have HPO Problems with everything BUT the Pump

You need to Post ICP--ICPV--IPR%

P0299 Need to monitor VGT while driving down the road. I'll see if I can find the video that tells you how to monitor/test. Probably have to just do what BLADE said and pull the turbo and clean it.

Edit: Here is the video

HPO SYSTEM problem

Got a Gauge to read ICP ICPV IIPR% ?????

P2290 ICP Injector Control Pressure Too Low Actual pressure is less than commanded for a specified time

P2290 - Fault sets when actual pressure is less than the commanded by a specified value (3.0MPa)

I have no gauges other then stock.

What gauges should I purchase

Given my truck has 250 km on it I feel that a rebuild of the top end ( hpop, ipr, injectors etc) would be worth while

I also need a scanner that will do cyl. contribution test

I want to be free from dealer service and also need a supplier of reliable parts other then ford if that is possible

You want an AE with Ford Enhanced or Like theres others but they probably cost more

Riffraff Diesel: AutoEnginuity Total Ford Enhanced Bundle

The injectors might be a waist they are spendy so most wait until they need them

Also your style HPOP do well so I wouldn't change it UNLESS it comes up bad with Diagnostic testing

With the DTC you have and year of truck probably just want to do the Normal STC--Dummey Plug--STandpipes I would Also go a step farther and Rering all injectors with the Alliant power Oring kits that have the Top inject oring where the HPO Rails goes into the Injectors and maybe even rering HPO Rail nipple cup orings as some of those start to fail with age now

At this point we need Numbers and need to rule out a Bad ICP sensor if that checks OK then Time to Air Test

ScanGauge II for your live gauges: You can walk into most AutoZones and they sell them. It will be the best money you ever spent on this truck $160.

Linear-Logic/ScanGaugeII with trip data computer, real-time display of operating conditions and scan tool (SG2) | ScanGauge | AutoZone.com

The AE, I purchased from Riff Raff. I ordered it on a Monday and it came in on Wednesday. Oregon to South Carolina. It was the best deal on the net. $359 and free priority 2 day shipping.
