Breezed through inspection

It was that time of the year again. I had to go and get new tires, a set of Kumho Road Venture AT @ 285/75/R16, nice and meaty. They're my 3rd set, and for an aggressive tire I get a good 25-30k out of them. Noisy on the road when you hit 80+ but what can you expect.

Aside from that my one fog light was loose, and in PA if you have a light, it has to work. Pushed on it and it light up, guy said good enough.

The part that scared me was my first time without an EGR valve, and a CEL for EGR Flow Malfunction. Guy said diesel is exempt from emissions so I'm clear.

A small rust hole in the rear bumper, he slapped a tin sticker on it and called it fixed.

Overall, a good day. Then I took my inspection and headed strait for the police station to prove I was inspected and got off with a warning

So in PA you go to an inspection station for a sticker and then you have to go to the police station and show THEM that you are inspected? I always assumed it would be up to the police to find YOU and the status of your inspection.

Eh, I let it lapse a few days because I needed tires, and they found me first, but gave me a warning and to go get it done within 10 days.

Understood. Sounds like they cut you a little slack.

That can be pretty costly... I know tires on my truck are about 1200-1400 for the set. If you dont preplan you are in for a bad day. Also, PA is a bunch of pr!cks with the inspections. One of my co-workers if from PA and got hit for loose header bolts on his mustang. In NC is a safety check and thats pretty much it. In MI there are no inspections

PA Emissions can be a PITA. Any exhaust leaks or excessive rust on any part of hte exhaust system will fail you. I can understand the reason behind it, and for the safety. They have to pull all 4 tires and measure each brake pad's life left. Horn, washers, lights, tires, rust/holes, or protruding sharp edges. You leave your truck there for the day, it's not an in/out thing.

Tires were about 1k, thus why I put off inspection, I knew I needed them, and it was a tough pill to swallow right then, had other more pressing stuff to pay for.
