Signs on bed stakes

I built some bed stakes for the 55. One long and one 2/3 of that. It is an old telephone company truck and I would like to have some version of past Bell Co or Telephone Pioneers of America sign to put on the stakes for parades and other events. My question - if anyone uses or has seen used signs that can easily be removed when not in use and how did you attach them? I do not wish to drill holes in the wood since the great majority of time the signs will not be on the boards. Any ideas to help with attachment?

Perhaps u-bolt style clamps that bolt through the sign? Probably would not want to do that to a vintage sign.

Seems like you could put a bracket on the back to slide down over the wood. You could line the bracket with felt to keep it from scratching the finish.

Depending on how heavy the sign is velcro might be an option. Holds tight and easily removed.

Both those are great ideas with similar application. Keep the ideas coming.

Do your boards have a gap between them? If they do, why not just bolt the signs on. Run the bolts thru the gaps of the stakes and use a backer board/s. So basically the signs would be clamped on. No holes needed in the stakes.

And if it's not secure enough you could have bolts above your upper stake side too.

That'll work as long as those bottom hooks will fit thru the gap between the side boards..

Some rare earth magnets might be able to be used. some of these things are small but very powerful, 2 can cause a blood blister of you get your finger between them. Possibly drill holes in the wood, insert the magnet with epoxy and cover with a thin wood plug. would be nearly invisible. The sign could be on sheet steel, or a matching set of magnets inserted into a wood sign. I use them all over the shop to hold metal objects like sticking the chuck key to a convenient place on my drill press, or holding tool specific wrenches to the tool.
