5.8 build for real

alright so I've got some money in had and ready to build, so far I got shorty headers, true dual exhaust, and i've been either looking for a cam or 1.7 roller rockers (crane specifically)I want a good blend of hp and torque, any info on the rockers and how they increase power would be appreciated. the truck is in the sig and really isn't used for towing much and will be used for very little towing, its daily driven and some off roading and my budget is about $800

With an $800 budget, I'd be looking for GT40 heads, and a cam. Is it MAP or MAF? I forget if MAF was offered on an F250 in 96.

If the F250 was a California emissions truck, it would be MAF if I'm not mistaken. Otherwise, it would be an SD truck. They are rare, but they are out there. The donor truck for my MAF conversion was a 1995 F250 5.0 that was MAF.

GT40 heads and roller rockers would be my suggestion, the stock cam is pretty good it just needs a little more lift.

That exactly what I was thinking conanski could use the 1.7 rockers with the gt40 heads? I heard spring bind was an issue?

Spring bind is no issue up to a little over .500" lift and 1.7s are safely under that at 0.472" on the exhaust side.
