door rattle
alright...got an issue.
door panel has been off a few times to see what is up. drove it down the road a few times with the panel OFF to see if I could find the rattle...and it was quiet. when the panel goes back on, rattle comes back.
Now...where should I look at? is it one of the lock/door latch rods vibrating against the panel? that is about the only thing I can figure...
Any ideas...ANY ideas...please present them to me...you will not receive scorn from me.

Check all the points to where the panel connects to the door, they can become damaged the more the panel comes on and off. There is also a cable behind there that is notorious for rattling around, zip tie that mother up and your good. Also think about replacing the rubber bump stops on the door itself, may not be the problem but can always do some good for you.

well all those were great and didn't work. :|
took it to a body shop...
I was told that it is the metal "glue" that holds the door skin to the frame as there is a lack of this "glue" down at the very bottom...
looked at it...there was some looseness, but nothing that could cause a rattle. But just to play along, at the seam, NOT THE DRAIN HOLE, I spooned in a liberal dose of silicone rtv and let it set.
after setting, drove it and still nada.
also to add that the body shop adjusted the door (shuts alot better and sounds less....loose) but that did nothing to lessen the sound.
no one else has this type of issue?
I have also secured the cable as was suggested, and didn't work either.

well allstate told me to take it to wherever I wanted to and let them check it.
Service King, the original place to do the work, was significantly LESS than helpful. This will be the last time they touch anything that is owned by us.
Took it to the local Ford dealers body shop. He jumped in with me and told me to drive.
Before I got out of the parking lot, he asked me to pull over and let him drive a bit.
He took it over some speed bumps and after a bit took it back to the shop. Came back about 45 minutes later, showed me what it was, and said he'd talk to Allstate...
Door skin...becoming loose at the bottom causing a harmonic rattle.
Lets hope the insurance company thinks that it might be related to the original accident. :P
