Man, I am really out of practice shooting social get togethers. I paid my way through college for a while doing this kind of thing and I managed to miss just about every one. Of course, I wasn't trying to visit with everyone when I was in college either.

 

I think Nikki liked sitting in the driver's seat of Earthquake. Check out that ear to ear grin!

Thanks to everyone that came out. We had a good time. After everyone left I tinkered with the wiring on Earthquake some more. I got the fuel pump and ignition wired and now I can start it from inside the cab. RC. It's definitely the solenoid that's bad. I whacked it with a hammer and the starter disengaged.

 

well thats good alan... i am glad the "impact wrench" test verified the diagnosis of a bad solenoid ..ha ha ha ha ha ..

Did Earthquake sound any better with full fuel or have you not fired it up long enough to check yet? I've got my fingers crossed that he runs right so you can make the Christmas parade without much drama.

 

I think I have a carburetor issue. It sounded a LITTLE better, but there's still an issue. It sounds like it's doing the same thing another engine I built a carb for was. Super lean at idle and ok in the upper end. I'm going to try a few changes and see where it gets me.
