Wiper Cowl Removal

Yesterday I started hearing this very annoying sound coming from the area around the front window defroster vent on the passenger side. It sounds like a very light rattle, almost like a BB pellet bouncing around. It does not happen on recirculate, which caused me to think its coming from where fresh air is drawn into the truck. I listened outside the truck and can hear the sound coming from down under the wiper cowl. There is all sorts of junk falling off the trees now and my guess is a small berry or something rolled into there and bounces around when air is being drawn past it. Before I go unscrewing things I shouldn't, does anyone have experience taking off the wiper cowl? I could only find instructions for the 2004-2008 trucks and am not sure how, or if my 2013 is different. Any help would be appreciated!

On another note, I had another intermittent rattle coming from the front passenger door area, I have discovered that if the passenger window is completely closed it sometimes happens, if the window is put down the slightest (still sealed shut though) the sound never happens. Not sure what all that is about but not a big deal anyway.

Welcome to the forum!

I would suggest using a shop vac and seeing if you can remove whatever you believe is in there before starting to take anything apart.

Remove your wipers of course then your cowl has clips holding it down. It will pop up but it can be a little tricky and the clips can break. You can see the clips on the corners and under the hood but the rest of them are hidden. You will just have to pull the door panel and see what you can find on the door rattle, I would check the regulator and glass bolts.

Thanks for the help guys. I noticed another odd problem driving home today, the highest speed on the fan setting control is not working, the fan increases speed with each notch (like it should) through the first 4 settings but there is no change in fan speed at the highest setting. I tried every combination of recirculate, a/c on, a/c off etc. I'm almost due for my first oil change so I am going to bring this up with the dealer.
