This totally sounds like an exhaust leak. Start it when it's cold and move your hand all around the exhaust manifold. Also slowly power brake it and see if the noise gets louder, IE exhaust leak if it does.

I looked and looked for an exhaust leak early on but found nothing...it's not IMPOSSIBLE though. However I'm already over halfway done now.

Has anyone used the Stallion valve spring compressor ST-101 to remove the followers.

Go to 5w-30 the extra little bit of weight will help the cam phasers

I've found the problem.

All 12 lash adjusters on the driver's side are seized. I'll be working on the passenger side tomorrow.

Boy that is sweet, I wish I had the guts to tear into it like that. I did finally get a chance to crawl under it and check. I don't have a bolt in that hole either. If you ever get to Texas, let me know, you can stay with my wife and I and you and I can change out the lash adjusters

Hi, i have the same problem with my 5.4 lariat...but i'm not planning to repair it...i would prefer to sell it and take in a newer one...how much do u think it will run without breaking down? thanks
