Looking to buy and Excursion

Hey guys, I'm looking to buy an Excursion. I would prefer a diesel over gas, but the gas models are quite a bit cheaper. How complicated is it to swap a v10 out and put a 7.3l in? Can you just pull them out or am I looking at having to lift the cab off the chassis to do the swap. Or am I wasting my time?

If I do just go and buy a diesel ex, 7.3l power train or 6.0l power train?

I got no issues working on vehicles and fixing problems myself, so what would be some issues to watch for?

I live in Saskatchewan and there are only a few for sale.

2001 Ford Excursion XLT SUV - Saskatchewan Cars For Sale - Kijiji Saskatchewan Canada.

Ford excursion - Saskatchewan Cars For Sale - Kijiji Saskatchewan Canada.

or going out of province and then having to get a safety

thanks for the help

The 7.3 uses the same trans as the gassers in the excursion. Later model superduty gassers use the same trans as the 6l.

The major electronic components are different between gas vs diesel. you would also need wiring harness, computer modules, transmission, fuel tank and new lines. You probably need a new dash along with relays, and other stuff..

But, if you decide to do it we need pics and a right up.

If Saskatchewan is anything like Ontario you will find most of them with a lot of rust. I ended up buying from Texas simply because I didn't want to deal with the rust.

If you want a diesel Ex buy one. There are a lot of parts and time involved turning a V10 Ex to a 7.3l Ex. It would actually probably be easier to swap in a 12V or 24V Cummins than the 7.3l.
