Steering gear box and more...

So I have been having an issue when turning to the left, the wheel will turn a bit, stop, turn a lil more, stop etc. But when turning right I had no issue. Most common problem I found was the Steering Gear Box. So my wait til payday to replace the part started. Now heres the NEW problem.

Went to turn into the driveway (of course a left turn) and a very loud pop/snap sound happened. Now the left wheel barely turns at all either direction.

Was this just the steering gear box going the rest of the way out, or should I look for something else that may have gone out as well?

Thanks in advance!!

Hi firemedic,

Sounds to me like your steering gear is toast. I can't think of anything else that could cause this.

Raise it up and have someone turn the wheel while you feel the PS box and listen to it, and at the same time look and listen for other possibilities.

So as an update:

The bolts to the SGB busted off from the frame, yeehaw.

On a more entertaining note, the tow truck that just tried to move it for me so I can work on it was unable to do to the weight. With my front end lifted it lifted the front end of the tow truck 4-5 inches off the ground. So after that long wait im now holding out for the "big" tow truck to come help.
