Cranks, won't start

Hi,

2007 F350 6.0L Diesel. Lots of work the last year. Now, will crank but won't start. Last week, hubby had a hard start one morning. After that, been strating well. Took it in for oil change today. When the tech went to pull it into the bay, won't start, just clicking noise. Check batteries, way low. Order 2 Interstate Batteries to be delivered. Installed and get oil change. Tech moves truck out - started fine. When we comne to pick up, starts and runs fine. Hubby goes to his workshop, sharpens lawnmower blades, gets in truck to leave, cranks, but won't start. Gets about 200-250 RPM on tach. No engine light.

Checked oil, full. Recent work in last 12 months: Head gasket, radiator, Y-pipes and several other pipes, EGR delete kit, FICM from Ed. About two years ago new starter from Ford and new CPS from Ford.

Any ideas where we should start first? EGR delete kit came with scanner, so we will check codes in morning.

Thanks!

Just reading on another forum about the alarm maybe having something to do with it????? We have been having trouble with the horn going off by itself once in awhile. Most of the time we can just rap the steering wheel hard and it stops. But a few times we have had to reset the alarm?????

With having new batteries I would suspect a bad alternator, loose connections, or a bad ground in the charging system.

I don't think they got the new Batterys in yet

But if that don't solve it I would Agree with the Above^^

The part that Gets Me is I see a Pattern here that it WONT START HOT Leads to possible HPO Issue

Also don't see the normal HPO System upgrades what Also leads to think HPO Issue

I think you could have 2 Problems here

This is the first time no start. It sat for at least an hour, outside temp around 79. Will see in the morning when we get over there. If it starts, what would be the estimated cost of an HPO job? If it still doesn't start cold...????? Will try alarm reset too, since batts were disconnected.

Sounds like a high pressure oil problem. Are you planning on doing the work or taking it to a shop?

I have seen the stand pipe and dummy plug kit anywhere from $120 to $200. Its hard to say what they will charge for labor. Is the shop a general mechanic shop or do they specialize in diesels?

They specialize in diesels. Mechanic seems pretty sharp. Hubby ( who used to own a boat repair facility) spoke to him at length as was comfortable with him. The work they have done seems to be good, this truck just keeps killing us and we are not in a financial position to get a new vehicle at the moment.

Doing this work yourself can save you a lot of money. Its pretty easy work and everything is just under the valve covers so it not a very in depth project. There are videos on YouTube that will help you through it if you decide to take it on yourself.
