OUT WITH THE OLD IN WITH THE NEW!

Well after about a year or more of thinking and looking at the Ford website and printing out a ream of dream trucks, I finally made up my mind and ordered a new one. I ordered a 2014 F350 SC 4X2 with the 4:30 axle, and 6.2L engine. I am trading in my 05 F250 SC 4X2 with the 6.0L diesel. It's been a good engine but the added expenses of owning a diesel just doesn't seem to make sense anymore. I told my friend who has the 6.7L that now the price of diesel will probably come down now that I am buying a gasser. He said, "thanks"! Then right after I placed the order I read here on FTE, that the SD trucks are changing in early 2014 to be a new 2015 and who knows what goodies will come with the new upgrade. I can only imagine a higher output engine or maybe a turbo, that will really make me mad that I finally went and ordered a new truck. But on the same token, I have purchased new vehicles in the past that were first off the line and had problems with them that were created by the manufactures rush to get the new product out. This is how I get to sleep at night by rationilizing that the new trucks will have bugs in them and mine will be perfect since it's been tried and true for a long time! Now comes the long wait to hear from the dealer and get a VIN number, and hopefully a time frame for completion. I hope it gets here before the first of the new year, it would make a great Christmas present, EH!

My color of choice would have been the UPS brown color I saw a couple of years ago at the Hershey camp show in PA. But it is no longer available so, second choice was the Pale Adobe, nice but I really liked the chocolate brown color with the pale adobe two tone. Oh well. Actually in Florida with the heat it may be a better color than the darker one, time will tell.

Just got a call today and the salesman said the truck gets built on the 24th of October, yeah!

Been thinking about this move for a long time, now it will seem like a long time getting here.

Oh by the way, just looked on Ford web site yesterday and they are already advertising the new 2015 Super Duty's on the site. One of the colors that might be close to what I was liking is a brown called Bronze Fire and another is Carabou. Oh well, made up my mind to go with the 2014, hope it's the right decision.

Hell the 2015 doesn't look that much different, maybe engine hp/torque improvement!

That's the parts that worry me the most an engine improvement that gives you more hp/torq. Can't have enough hp and torq can we? Time will tell, but it's the old gotta get one up on the competition, since Chrysler and GM have made improvements. I just hope Ford builds me a really good reliable truck that will take me across these United States at least one more time. Hopefully the National Parks will be open again by next spring, but I won't hold my breath!

rvpuller, just wondering if you have the factory fifth wheel hitch from Reese? I ordered the hitch and prep for mine and I like the looks of it but I have been very happy with the Pullrite hitch I have been using for the last 8 years. Just wondering if anyone has had any problems with the Reese hitch or are you happy with the way that it functions?

No I stayed with my Reese 20K that I have had for years (I just rebuilt the head),I don't care about the rails because the hitch is always in the truck. I did look at the B&W that would fit the Ford prep but the release handle would hit my toolbox. I know people that have that Reese hitch that Ford sells (we are traveling with one of them) and they don't like the hitch, plus from Ford it's way over priced. If you aren't going to use a hitch that uses the prep in one way or another don't get it because it will be in the way when you mount a hitch with rails.

RVPULLER,
my friend back in Delaware, bought the prep kit from Ford, but bought the Reese hitch to mount to it seperately. He got a better deal on the hitch that way. He didn't like the handle on the Reese hitch and decided to make a new one out of electric conduit. He made the bend and shortened up the handle, now it doesn't stick up in the air like the factory one. I may try to do something like it myself once I get the truck.
This is off topic a bit, I guess, but I went to Gator Ford today and measured the F250 SC that was on the lot. I wanted to know if my running boards that are on my 05 SC would fit, and the hole pattern on the new trucks is exactly the same as my 05, yeah! Also I looked under the truck to see if the plug was mounted on the 2014 Lariat that was mentioned on another thread, and it is there, another win! It is a dead headed plug that I can tap into to get the lights on my running board to work. It is located on the frame rail just about where the back brackets would be. I was hoping that both would work ok and it looks like everything is good. Now to get my Sirius radio mount out of my 05 and figure how it will hook up into my new one. It is a drop in mount type I have moounted on a suctioncup mount and also works with a boom box at home, I have a lifetime subscription and don't want to lose out on that.
