OUT WITH THE OLD IN WITH THE NEW!

I am down in Sun City Center, and everything we do or need to do is always 20 miles north or south. We need more restaurants and things in this area, maybe when Amazon moves in to Ruskin, there will be a few more stores or eating places. Would be nice if we had a Ford dealer closer also!

The salesman said I would get a call this week as the truck was to go on the line on Thursday. He said as soon as he got the VIN no. he would call, well I guess the truck didn't get to the line yet. Bummer! I must have patience!
Anyway, when I do get the truck I hope to have enough time to put miles on it before our camping trip to Disney. It's only an hour and 15 min. to Disney but just didn't want to go towing without putting at least 500 miles on it. I don't know for sure if that is the recommended mileage still but that was what it was when I got the 05. Anybody have any different thoughts on when you should first tow?

The manual from my '11 states the following:
BREAKING-IN YOUR VEHICLE
Your vehicle does not need an extensive break-in. Try not to drive continuously at the same speed for the first 1,000 miles (1,600 km) of new vehicle operation. Vary your speed frequently in order to give the moving parts a chance to break in.
Drive your new vehicle at least 1,000 miles (1,600 km) before towing a trailer. For more detailed information about towing a trailer, refer to Trailer towing in the Tires, Wheels and Loading chapter.
BTW - You'll get your VIN a week or two before it's built. I'd PM Crystal here on FTE (Ford Customer Service), they seem to have better information than dealers ever do.

If Ford and their engineers think so, then why shouldn't the consumer? That wouldn't be a risk I'd be willing to take after dropping a large amount of coin on a truck.
I'm sure Ford would gladly pick up the truck on the side of the road with 250 miles on the odo and a 10k TT behind it and not have a problem sticking you with a hefty bill.

Anyway you mention Crystal on FTE, I don't know her or how you get to PM her. Would she need a VIN no. or is she able to get the VIN no. with my name and info?
Thanks,
Barry

I think they can track it with an order number and your dealer name if you haven't received your VIN yet, but you'd have to confirm with her (them).
Here's the link to PM her, username is FordService in case this doesn't work:

Here's the thread announcing Ford's presence here on FTE:

2000 Silverbullet, many thanks for the info on Crystal, I was able to get a VIN no. and relayed it to her and just got the projected delivery of Nov. 17 at the dealer, if all goes well.
Lets hope that all goes well, she did say to check back in a week and see the progress. This is great news and now I can start the process of getting the loan arranger working on the money end. Everyday I drive the old truck I worry something might happen before I trade it in, and yesterday I almost got T-Boned by a senior citizen in a parking lot at Home Depot. I think I'll park it unless I absolutely need it! I'm getting a bit paranoid I think!

I don't have much in the way of mods to my truck but if you ever want to check something out or drive a truck with a 5 Star tune let me know.

Well, tomorrow's the day I have been waiting for. The new truck came in on Friday, I went to look it over but couldn't take it since the financing wasn't set up yet. Got that all done and have check in hand! Gonna pick it up and trade in the old girl, gonna miss her I'm sure, leaving the diesel and switching to gas will be an adjustment to get used to! One thing I won't miss is paying 40, 50 60 70 cents more per gallon of diesel. Maybe now I have the gasser the price of diesel will go down, that's how my luck usually goes! LOL!
