Ongoing IVS Issue-Possibly Solved?
As many of you know, who helped me a great deal with a new switch, input, and ideas, I have had the TPS/IVS issue for about 2 months. I got it fixed, or so I thought, with a new TPS and an IVS and relocated the IVS under the dash. This made the throttle remarkably smoother and the truck has been good, until a few days ago. I get in my truck after an amazing surf session, start it up, hit the switch and go to press the throttle. No response, a CEL, and weak kneed....again. I got under the dash, pressed the connection to the IVS and problem solved. I am on my way to work. I decided the pigtail was bad since the wires were brittle and thin, so I ordered a new pigtail, replaced it and it worked for 5 minutes.
I got it home after jiggling the wires around to get it working. I crawled under the dash and start really looking and decide to take off tall of the tape and wire loom to see what is really going on. As Nate and Thomas know, electrical just freaks me out. I am a total rookie when it comes to wires, but I just dove in...F it, right?
So I find the wiring to be exposed and brittle under the tape in a few areas and figure this is the culprit. I cut and spliced with solder and connectors, but long story short, I have found that the problem runs up into the harness that goes into the dash. I have not removed the dash as of yet to see what is going on.
The last strange thing that happened is this. If I jiggle the wires coming from the IVS, I can get it to work with no issues until I shut the truck off, then I have to start over. But, 2 times yesterday, jiggling the wires set the CEL and the OD light started blinking!!! I was like, what?!!!!!! It did that to me a few times. If I shut it off, restart and jiggle only slightly and find the sweet spot, it works just fine.
So, sorry for long post, but wanted to make sure I put in all of the info. I guess my question is, what am I looking at with that harness under the dash? Has anyone else had to replace it? And,if anyone has a clue, what in the world would set the CEL AND the OD light to blinking under there? If I forgot anything, sorry!
