Coolant leak HELP!!

My father's 2001 7.3 is leaking coolant out of a metal tube located on the front passenger side of the block next to the water pump. I cannot see where this tube goes on the to of the motor due to the A/C bracket. What is this tube and why is it leaking? Any help would be appreciated. (it pours antifreeze when running) Thanks

Sounds a lot like a heater hose...it is probibly leaking because it has a hole in it.

It is not a heater hose, this is a open metal tube that could be a breather or drain for something.

Looking at my 7.3 I don't see any metal lines on the block near the water pump. If you could take a pic we could lead you to a fix. Right now it's just a shot in the dark.

It sounds to me like you are describing the water-in-fuel drain tube that comes down the front of the engine on the passenger's side and stops about half way down. It is a small 3/8" metal tube.

Are you sure it is not fuel rather than coolant?

The drain tube comes directly from the fuel bowl drain valve. No way would coolant come from that tube.

Yep thats your fuel bowl drain tube. If its for sure coolant then you have a big problem. I'm not sure how your fuel bowl is filling up with coolant. Sounds impossible to me. Light the liquid on fire and see if it burns.
