Power Steering Help
Ok guys here's the story. Bought '66 F100 CC that had some swapping already done, disc brakes, PS, motor, OD Automatic, etc. I know it's a lot of mix and matching, but everything is working well with the exception of steering. I was lucky enough to have one of you FTE vets come by and take a look and give me some advice. Thanks a ton Robert! Believe we got it down to PS gear box. Since I was told column was out of 65 Falcon or Fairlane, PO wasn't sure which, I'm trying to figure out what's what. Was able to get casting numbers off of gear box, D7TC-3550-BA, which would lead me to believe this is off something '77 and later. Would that match up with above mentioned column or is that just crazy? Also any help IDing that gear box would be totally appreciated. Also need to know which bushings these are. TIA.

Hey Mike, Those are the Radius rod bushings... you can get them in Polyurethane now, i would recommend it, Moog makes blue ones if you don't want red. Robert is a Great Guy to know. I am glad i can call him my friend. as far as the column, your best bet is to find one from a Power Steering truck 69-72... 73-4-5 and 6 might work also, but me! i dont like the steering wheel. Make sure you snag the inner and outer firewall brackets also, these brackets are NOT the same from a non power steering truck and help align the column to the box. if you don't have them you rag joint will bind up. Hope that helps.
One more thing, you will need the under dash column bracket from a 65-66 to swap to the newer column, if you dont have one, you can buy one from Tom @ Flashbacks F-100's. Tom is a Great Guy also.
Also, you can shorten a 65-66 non power steering column at the rag joint end, But you'll still need the inner and outer firewall brackets from a PS truck.

D7TC-3550-BA is the casting number found on 1977/79 F100/350 2WD Ford/Saginaw integral P/S gearbox housings, but what are the rest of the swapped P/S parts from?
1962/69 Fairlane & 1963/70 Falcon were only available with Power Assist P/S, a totally different system than integral P/S.
Look on the Pitman Arm for its cast ID number and post what it is. It could be C9TA-3590-E or D2TA-3590-FA or who knows?
There is no way to know which radius arm bushings are present, since the PO didn't tell you what the swapped P/S is from.
THREE different types of these bushings were used 1965/86, so you'll have to remove them, take to an autoparts store and match 'em up.
C5TZ-3B203-E Rear & C5TZ-3B203-D Front .. Radius Arm Bushings.
1965/77 F100/250 2WD & 1967/75 F350 / 1969/86 Econoline
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
D5TZ-3B203-A Rear & D5TZ-3B203-B Front .. Radius Arm Bushings.
1976/78 F100/250 2WD & F350 / 1979 F100/250 2WD & F350 2WD before production date 2/1979.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
D9TZ-3B203-A Rear & E6TZ-3B203-A Front .. Radius Arm Bushings.
1979 F100/250 2WD & F350 2WD from production date 2/1979 / 1980/83 F100 2WD / 1980/86 F150/350 2WD/4WD & Bronco.

Is the steering column from a '65 Falcon or Fairlane? If so...it will have a TWO spoke steering wheel.
Same THREE spoke steering wheel & horn ring or button: 1960/63 Falcon/Comet / 1961/66 F100/250 2WD / 1966 F100 4WD / 1966/73 Bronco (horn ring is Bronco only) / 1967/70 F100/250 2WD/4WD & F350.

Thanks guys, much appreciated. ND the steering wheel is a three spoke, I believe to be original to the truck. It's old cracked and the same original color as the truck. So I guess what I'm asking is could the PO have left the original column and bolted up later PS box to it? Thanks again guys!

Typical slop in the wheel. We jacked it up, Robert crawled under it while I turned the wheel back and forth. Everything appeared in order. We found slight amount of wobble in left tire so I'll probably do king pins as well. Felt a slight bind in steering wheel when turned but not always in same position.
