96 aode into a 92 f150 with aode.

Bought a 96 parts truck to get a transmission for my 92 flareside and then to convert the 351 over to mass air flow.

Was hoping to get the trans to work before the conversion but the transmission housings are different(provisions for electronics) . Just wondering if anyone has done any of these type of mods.

More info needed

How about giving us the codes off of the door stickers?

That '96 most likely has an E4OD in it. Not sure about your '92, though.

How about some pics?

First off the AODE was never put in a truck, they only came in cars.
The 1992 sounds like it had a AOD transmission and a 4R70W (AODE-W) will not work as it needs computer control. It may also have had a C6 in it if it did not have OD.
The 1996 had either the 4R70W or the E4OD in it as said above. So they will not work as you poined out they have provisions for electronics on them.

You also did not say what engine sizes the two trucks had.

The 96 was 5.0l and the 92 is 5.8l.
I was planning on using all the electronics from the 96 on top of the 5.8l. I know it's a big job but I am good with wiring. Swapping from obd to obd-II.

They are both definitely aod based casings.
I have a c-6 in my 77 so I know what it looks like.
And have looked at the oilpan shape and its not a
E4od.

The 96 is a 5.0l and 92 is 5.8l
I was planning on using the whole 96 harness on the 92. Swap computers and wiring in cab.
But was hoping to get the transmission running first. But sounds like I got some work and some figuring to do.

The EGR feedback systems are completely different. 1992 used EGR position (EVP) versus actual flow (DPFE) on the 1996 models. Sourcing the unique EGR tube to use on your '92 5.8L could get pricey.

Could you not just use the 5.0l ones.
Not sure exactly the part your talking about even.
But the 96 has all the parts I need.
If its just the tubes that run at the back of the block all that needs to be done is cut and extend the 5.0l ones or modify the 5.8l ones.

No those tubes are for the air injection system, not for EGR operation. The EGR tube for a vehicle that uses DPFE (differential pressure feedback ) has sample tubes for the silicone hoses to run to the DPFE sensor. The EGR tubes are different between a 5.0L and a 5.8L engine.

For reference this is a similar EGR tube you will need to use on your 1992 5.8L engine if you want convert to OBD-II:

The other option is to get a tuner then shut off the EGR operation and feedback.
