Rear view mirror gauge install... won't fit!

I'm in the process of building my wiring harness for my new Autometer gauges, I decide to go out and get some measurements withe triple gauge pod above the rear view mirror. It won't fit!

With the pod in place, I can't adjust the rear view mirror so I can see out of it. I do have the fancy rear view that auto dims, if it matters...

I didn't want to use the pillar mount because I want something more factory looking and I have tweeters mounted in my pillars. I would rather not use the 650 dash since I'm building a console extension to mount my ham radio, but I just might have to do it.

I'd rather not get a glowshift 3-n-1, but I just might have to.

Has anyone had the pod not fit above the mirror?

Mine fit, but I think what guys do is heat the mirror button with a lighter or cigar torch and twist/remove the button, then remount it lower, making room for the pod. You could also check with an auto glass place for pricing.

The size of the gauge and the idea of mountig just one gauge. I like symmetry.

I like it looks good. My buddy has one and it a nice cheap option. I just installed 3 glowshift max tow gauges in a 3 pod pillar a few weeks ago.
