SCT TUNER

Thoughts on the SCT for dpf delete. Rudy's diesel has some for $850 which isn't cheap but a lot better then $1400 plus for others. Not looking for a bunch more hp mostly just want the dpf delete.
Opinions are appreciated.

As far as SCT goes...the tuner of choice seems to be the LiveWire. I bought one used but the USPS is taking forever to get it here. The LiveWire can accept up to 3 custom tunes as well. II was warned about the SF3 3015R tuners...seems like they have a tendency to fry PCMs during an upload...just some food for thought.

Hopefully mine will get here soon...

Never heard of that and never had an issue with mine. Best thing I ever did was get rid of that DPF.

gearbox z has a dpf-r programmer that is much less and will do the trick nicely, I've used mine about 6 months and havn't had any trouble with it, I purchased the one with the 70hp economy tune and like it but some others don't but as far as deleting dpf IMO can't beat it for the price. I purchased mine through XDP. Oh they also have a proggramer that has several different preset power levels that you can do.

Im lifted 5 and running 35's. I hate the darn DPF, took a 30 minute drive today just to regen so the truck would act right. Sooner I can get rid of the DPF the better.

yeah that was our problem too.. we would pick dinner up/or grocery shopping..pull into the yard.. REGEN TIME.. back on the road.. so if I could get rid of that problem.. make the truck run better..and a little better mpg... I couldn't pass it up!

I have never heard of them frying a PCM, I have the Innovative tune package, which replaces the "canned tunes" and I also have 3 custom tunes form Gearhead. Truck runs great!

yeah I've been happy with mine...I lifted mine and lost a lot of power...plus I was tired of the regens.. looked at hs/Spartan.. 1600-2000 said f' that..I'm not looking to race or tear my truck up..I went with a used SCT tsx 8900 got the tuner for 700 GOT my power back..on the low end im getting 13.. but I've been getting 18 on the lie-o-meter.. so I'm around high 14's-15mpg so I'm pleased.. and you can go for more..it's just the more aggressive the tune the better MPG's

I just ordered the SCT 3015R and the dpf/cat delete pipe.

Installed it yesterday in my driveway......

It's insanity. It's like the engine has been replaced with a pissed off demonic beast.

Mpg have improved somewhat but I haven't calculated it yet.

The nice feature is no more regens, the engine and transmission seem to be working much better, the shifts are firmed up, it sounds amazing you can hear the turbo more and the growl is nice, no more oil being polluted with diesel, it disables the egr bullcrap and the best part is it haulllls ****ing ***. It's nothing to be cruising at 40km mash the gas and it'l get sideways with no strain at all.

I am new to owning a diesel and I want to delete the DPF on my 08'. If I buy an SCT 8900 or 3015R, do I also have to by a custom tune for the DPF delete? Or is it included in the canned tunes?

Yup Ive got a 3015R the shop installed a 3015 the first time caused lots of problems , but got it straighted out.

Everyone here told me not to use a SCT , I never did find out why?
Its way cheaper and does what I want.

I love my SCT.. its the extreme race (hard to find now) but I've never herd of frying pcm. SCT also offers great customer service. Dsr1 you don't have to purchase anything additional... the tuner simply asks if you have dpf deleted, also asks if egr is deleted. You can recalculate tire size read and erase codes and monitor vitals that pcm provides. Hope this info is helpful
