surveying the crowd on rollover with youtube!

This idea of gear rollover has really got me mystified so I thought I'd make a video and see what you guys think. Rollover or bad stuff going on? Not many zf tranny videos out there so I made a few!

This video is of my early morning start to work. It had been running about 5 minutes before I left out. Gear roll over or something more serious???

This video is going through the gears for the first time this morning. Notice as I decelerate before making the left turn how I am getting a bit of a ringing sound in the transmission. That's coming from the floorboard so I assume it's transmission.

Sorry for the shakyness. hard to drive and hold phone at the same time!

Bill is gonna kill me over this. I have posted about this for weeks but I am quite intrigued by the varied degrees of diagnoses on gear rollover and the opinions I've gotten from it. I am running an smf just for the record!

In my limited zf experience(autos forever lol)
I do not think that level of noise is normal.i have heard rollover and when i was at ford we did have an occasional copmplaint..nothing can i remember was that loud in person.i am NOT the authority on this subject.However...if that was mine..it would be pulled and physically determined if a problem was in fact present.

I can't say for 100% sure from the video, but that doesn't sound like gear rollover to me. It may just be the sound in the video. I couldn't say for sure unless I could hear it in person.

Cant tell on the 2nd video, but my unprofessional opinion of the first video is not gear rollover.

That's what mine sounds like right now. But I just assumed it was gear roll over with the different transmission and the new dual disc clutch I put in. I assume you have a single disc clutch so that means we both got the same issue. Did this start all of a sudden or progressively?

Makes me want to go out and double check fluids on my truck.

I bought this truck a few months ago and it had that problem all along. It has not gotten worse or better. I do think I'm going to swap it out with a tranny I'm getting ready to buy that is good. Then maybe investigate it a little further. I am in agreement with most that this is something more than gear rollover.
