brake torque specs...

Hello!! I'm reassembling the rear brakes and can't find any torques specs, despite having now both the Service and the Parts Manuals. Specifically, the backing plate has 8 nuts onto the axle, and the axle shaft will have 8 nuts on the outer most end.
Got specs? thanks!

on the average per bolt size a 3/8 bolt will get 25 to 35 foot pounds a 7/16 45 to 55. a 1/2 65 to 75.

In cases where you don't have torque limits specified for the application, you can use general torque values. See for example:

US Recommended Bolt Torque

that's the same chart I use and have never had a problem. knew you meant a 97 carb, only other one I personally know of is I believe a 93 from the 136 inch 60hp motor. good luck restoring that old work horse
