a while back I saw a guy on youtube with a lifted black V10 SD with a borla exhaust. He was blasting up a hill at silver lake sand dunes.... it sounded pretty good.

Aeroturbine AT3030 is the Only muffler that sounds tough on a V-10. Alot of guys here have them. Pretty cheap too!

You do not want to make your V10 sound all "white trash" like this guy did. I am guessing he is dumping the exhaust out under the cab and if using a muffler, it is a small one.

That sounds terrible.

X2 here. I had a05 v10 with one of the sponsors 4 inch dual outlet systems on it. off it came in only 2 days.
and X2 on the music noise levels I like being able to hear

May sound good to you, but please be conscious of your neighbors and the people that live in the neighborhoods you drive through. We really don't want to hear the racket and it really doesn't make you cool.. All it really makes you is a target for the LEOs..

I ended up putting a glass pack on in April after 3+ years with no muffler. it mellowed the tone a little and cleaned up some of the raspy tones. I'm very happy its all but silent inside now.

thers more involved than just replacing the stock pipes with a straight trough system, it wont run right with the stock computer so you have to get it tuned or chipped, and what about the o2 sensor?

I kept the converters and sensors, I just cut the muffler out and welded pipe in place of it. It's actually not that loud when you keep the converters! By the way, nobody minds loud exhausts where I'm from and I also live out in the country so this is probably not the best option for city driving... I'll try to post a video soon! I have to agree though, the guy's truck in the above video pulling out the 7.3 sounds horrible!!

i've been running mine with no muffler for 3 years and find it neither obnoxious or awful sounding. I actually get compliments weekly on the sound and growl of it. it does not sound like a V8 but thats what i like about it....think lambo
The first two videos -- the first in particular -- sound buzzy, and not a sound I care for. The third, however, sounds pretty great.

It's your truck, though. If you like the way it sounds don't let anyone tell you different.

See what you think of the video i posted last night, since that original post i have installed a glass pack and it cut down on most if not all of the raspy sound it had before.

You spent 2 years touting your straight pipe and then you added a muffler

3+ years actually, I absolutely Loved it but I must be getting old or something . With more towing i knew i'd be doing and after some trips this winter i decided it needed to come down a notch. The Glass Pack smoothed it out and mellowed it a tad, still sounds good and gets compliments but does not have the raspy sound it had before.
