Rough cold starts

Rough cold starts
rough cold starts 50 degree run like it is missing, if I plug in block heater starts better
truck warms up oil temp 175 and above runs good, gets all the way warmed up, runs like it wants to rip the black top off the road just how it should
starts and runs idle 600 psi and just under 20 percent load, jump on it and runs up 3000 plus psi, 100 percent load all seems good
when driving on interstate 70, 75 mph and no real load 20 percent, I feel a small serge give it more pedal it goes away
getting reading of low injector volts on 1 thur 7 injectors and on #8 it seem fine
tested ficm when I did hpop and stuff and had good volts never below 48 even while cranking
could my injectors all crap out together
I have a banks IQ which reads all ford codes
180000 something miles and did hpop stuff at 167000
if I need to change injector should I or can I put bigger ones in
THANKS Tim

The FICM can still be bad even though it is showing 48 volts. Because it is showing that many circuit codes I would think the FICM needs a bit of lovin from Ed at www.FICMrepair.com There is a lot of excellent info on his web site.

That's a Great Point Brett, may need to check
FICM logic
koeo-12.5 lo-13.5 high-13.5
FICM vehicle power
koeo-12.0 lo-14.0 high-14.
Take these Values like this
koeo-key on engine off , low idle no ac or radio, high 2500 rpm
Sounds like a Inject to me ,what weight of oil are you using ? most run a 5w40 synthetic . Have you tried RevX this will help clean the Injects ,It helped mine.

In my experience RevX will make a noticeable improvement if injector stiction is the issue. It doesn't "fix" anything tho. The initial treatment of 2 small bottles (4oz I think) runs about $80. My truck was similar to yours when temps were below 45f or so. Splashed the stuff in right after an oil change and let it idle for 20min or so. The next morning the truck was like new. Effects lasted through the next oil change (I didn't re-treat). Outside temps are coming down here and I'm hearing a little stutter on cold starts and power is down a bit leaving the driveway at 100 ECT. I plan to polish spool valves as per the article in the tech folder soon.

To OP this does sound more like stiction to me if you want to use this as a reason to go bigger on Injectors you can but do a lot of home work first, there is a lot that has to go with it. tuning, maybe bigger turbo.

I payed 30.00 a bottle from Riff Raff diesel and only used one, Agreed Rusty that was only a quick fix and maybe my Inject wasent that bad but sure could tell in cold start with the rough idle ,for 30 bucks vs 800 + I took the Rev X, I use Stanadyne fuel treatment and I think this product has help too.

thanks for info
will recheck ficm volts and conections
maybe add something to oil,
always use shell rotella
have been using marvel mystery oil in fuel for ever, 10 miles to present 180000 plus miles
my truck has a banks techna cooler, high ram elbow, ram air filter ,4 inch cat back Gibson exhaust and eco mind tuner
im also wondering about glow plug control module

thanks for all the info
found a loose plug on the ficm was not hearing the injectors clatter when I turned key on jiggled plug retried and than sounded normal and started right up
went to start on sunday no start it seems that the glow indicator does not stay on very long maybe 10 -15 seconds could this be part of problem still have not retested ficm yet working outside weather delays

I found my FICM was having issues by using the SG II. First KOEO, it would read mid 30's and in 10 seconds, it would climb to 48v. (This was first start of the day)
So, if you are testing the FICM by yourself, you may not see this happening.
Once warmed up, the FICM would read 48v all day long.
