What is the temp of the DPF during regen? I did not think it was possible to melt the DPF.
Could it be melting the small passages inside the DPF.
Just thinking.
It is most certainly possible, and you are correct. I cut it in half to examine the substrate, and many of the small square passages were melted closed.
It was baked in an external oven several times, not to mention I don't even know how many times a manual IDS regen was done, and although this is an acceptable way to clean a DPF, every time you do it, it shortens it's life by 10-15%. After awhile, you pretty much have to replace it.
How many hours are on the truck? Shouldn't it be under warranty?64,000 miles, factory warranty is good for 100,000 confused. Send it to ford and let them fix there headache.

Yea, our local Ford dealer (whom we BUY these trucks from btw), has a habit of going "Sorry, but the warranty doesn't cover fleet useage"
Serisouly, they've tried this on me several times, to the point where I had to get the GM involved.
Did you read any of the thread? It has a new engine.
Yes, I read the entire thread. "I am deciding to replace the engine" is not the same as "I replaced the engine". Especially since in one of your posts after the one I just referenced you made mention of a dealer that had given you warranty related troubles in the past, and other talk about the truck being out of warranty on time, yada yada yada, so forgive me for feeling your "solution" was a bit less than clear.
One would assume that when I say I'm going to replaced the engine, that I did so. Money really isn't an object here, if it's broke, they fix it, unless it costs more to fix it than to buy a new one.
I just spoke with the driver yesterday, and he said he's getting regens about every 150-200 miles now, and with these trucks, that's all you can ask for.
Stupid DPF BS. All this for an emissions related issue. I call it the Obama exhaust. It does nothing and is a giant pain in my ***.
I kind of find it funny you call it obama exhaust, didn't he come in to office in 2008, after the dpfs finally came out for pick ups? Pretty sure they were also on commercial fleets prior to that even.
