Ohming out cruise controls now i am typing these as i go lol.

F150
on:2116
off:.4
set:602
resume:1114
coast:301.2

These are extremely close to the values on the diagram so i would say the diagram is correct and off is probably 0 Ohms not 0.4 all of them were slightly off.

F250

unfortunately i cannot get a signal on my set i bought off ebay...i will have to find my old ones that i originally shopped up and see i fi can get a signal off them. this is more or less to verify the diagram values which i know the F250 ones are correct i measured the values before.

 

So how would that work then? Resistors would have to be wired in between the wiring harnesses? Sounds like it might get cramped in there...

Hopefully you can figure it out... I LOVE the F150 wheel but can't really live without cruise as I do mostly highway driving

Oh yeah i feel your struggle then lol I love using cruise on the highway, I was planning on removing the current resistors and just attaching ones of the correct value on each button I have not opened up the F150 buttons yet but will tonight and tack pictures of it all for you and document it.

 

Ok well i thought i would try and pop them open while i was at work and it was super easy just a flat head and gingerly work the switches off the base.

Also soldering the Resistors will be super easy as they are not super complicated like the 99-04 ones with several resistors these are just on or two per switch.

Nice a reflow gun would be your best friend for that.

 

Yeah we have some at work, my dad is also an electrical engineer so I can have him do it for me he has a steadier hand we it comes to soldering small components. No reason you can use regular resistors though there is tons of space in the switches for normal sized resistors.

 

I fear this is slowly getting over my head...I don't even know what I'm looking at now. I will gladly send you beer money for a detailed 'how-to' .

 

Haha It's honestly not hard I will take lots of pictures and write up what i buy for components and how to do it. resistors are usually under $1 for a few of them so this will be a cheap easy fix. Like most things it sounds more complicated than it really is.

Also if you want to change the LED color now is the time to do it while the board is out, the two white squares are surface mount LEDs


EDIT: AHHA! I just got how the F150 circuit works if you look at it on the previous page the electricity flows starting from Coast to On and the resistance adds up depending on which switch you push...this actually might get tricky lol, the 2.2k on the very end is irrelivant it basically just shows the resistance if all the resistances stack so when on is pressed it iwll be 2.2k (2200 ohm) in total.

 

I'm sure you've thought about this, but any chance you could take the 'guts' out of the old switches and make them work somehow in the new housings...thus eliminating any and all wiring modifications? I'm thinking along the lines of your 08+ door lock mod that worked so perfectly

 

That was actually my next though, I'm going to try and find my old switches and take them apart. My old ones looked easier to swap boards vs these new ones I got.
