99 250 4WD wheel bearing & U joint replacement
Hello all,
I have a pre-me (early) 99 super duty f-250 with 2 wheel ABS and manual locking hubs and manual 4x4 shift. I need to do a 200,000 mile service and was replacing the wheel bearings, gaskets, axle dust covers, axle U-joints, and what ever else goes with the front wheel assembly, along with drive line U-joints and fluids. The wheel bearings and axle U-joints have never been replaced, I know this cause i'm the second owner since 30,000 miles. The ball joints have been replaced 2 years ago at 174,000 miles. The truck has a 6" lift with 35" tires since 125,000 miles. My question is that the front axle U-joints have never been replaced and don't know how to get the factory U-joints apart. They look like they might have been pressed in at the factory cause there are no clips to pop off to start the disassembly? Also should I get the Timken wheel hub assembly with 4 wheel ABS instead of the 2 wheel ABS so I can put in riffraffs grease-able block off fitting? 4 wheel looks cheaper than 2 wheel anyway.
