compatible 8.8 rearends

I've got a 84 f150 with 8.8(2.47 gears). I will be hauing 1 1/2 - 2 rick of firewood per load. At some point(most likely after firewood season i want to swap my 3spd. tranny for a bulldog 4spd. I want to switch to 3.05(my guess, maybe 3.55).

WHAT YEARS ARE COMPATIBLE FOR ME TO USE WHEN I SEARCH THE BONEYARDS.

All the way up to 1996. You can also use a 9 inch rear(the trucks earlier than yours usually use these) but you might have to check the driveshaft length if you use a 9 inch. Also make sure it has the correct lug pattern if you are looking at a rearend from a f100.

batt. not charging

I have 84 f150(i6) w/ds2 sign.
Alternator tested fine off truck, a "mechanic" bypassed voltage regulator and said charge was fine then. I replaced regulator and still no charge.
What do I look at next?

See if you have voltage on the large battery + terminal on the back of the alternator with the engine off. If you don't, you have a fusible link burned out in that large output wire.
