MAC Scan Tool causing truck to die!
1997 F250 4x4 w/238,000 miles
So I got my new Mac Tools "Mac TaskPlus" scan tool in off the tool truck today. Got home, just uploaded the software etc etc. Plugged it into the truck and it says "no PIDs for this vehicle found" or something along those lines. In the manual, it says that anything older than 1999, you have to manually select the vehicle in the scanner, and says to select "manual" from the diagnostic screen. Well, there is no "manual" selection that I can found. So I'm thinking, right now, I have a $160 paper weight that is reading nothing from my truck. So, I start scrolling down the menu and just start trying to get SOMETHING from it.
Well, when I get down to "diagnostic monitor tests" and hit select, the vehicle dies. I kind of panic, thinking that the truck just died and had nothing to do with the tool. Start it back up, try again, same result. This goes on 3 times and it dies all three times in the middle of the "loading" screen.
WHAT GIVES!!!!
Has ANYONE seen anything like this? It's really irritating.

Common result; I've had two different "standard" OBD-II scanners shut down the truck when you go to scan. Yeah, def. pucker factor when it first happens. I've read at least one post on one of the forums that a guy got his truck scanned by a "friend with a Mac tools scanner", but he didn't specify a model or anything. Shoot, secondhand like that, it could've been a Snap-On MT2500 or something.
