'71 F-100 seat conversion ???

I'm going to upgrade the bench to a later model more comfortable seat. I know the 88-96 F-150 60/40 split will work but having a tough time loacting a donor. Would like a fold down arm rest also.

?? Anyone used anything else that works well and gives a little more room behind the wheel?

I used a bench out of a 78 Bronco. The center seat back lays down and has cup holders and a storage console built in. The driver and passenger side seats have more of a bucket feel to them. Also being cloth they are more durable then vinel.

Here's a viable option for a Dent but it'll probably work in a bump since they are so much alike: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post13116776

I tried 2005 dodge 3500 leather seats turned out great. Quiet a bit of fab to get them low enough. but not hard at all. Turned out really well, very happy.

I'm about to pick up a 40/20/40 bench seat from a 2000 Silverado. It will probably take me a few weeks to get it all mocked up & completed but I'll let you know what I find out when it's all done.

See example below:

by looks of mounts you can probably just drill thru floor and run a 3/16 backing plate

I think the 99-06 Silverado & Sierras have this same style seat as an option. The bolt-in 3 point option while maintaining a bench seat feel is important to me. Plus they're relatively cheap & you can get covers for them that aren't too expensive.

How did this seat config work for you? I am interested in the builtin shoulder belts.

As far as comfort goes, my seat is BY FAR the most comfortable seat I've ever sat on, and i get the same reaction from everyone that rides with me... It's the factory bench with a sheet of 2" foam laid over it the bottom and a saddle blanket seat cover.

That being said, my cousin had a 92 f150 with the bench seat and it too was nice. But my seat beats it.

I recommend you try out the foam sheet first. Any fabric/ upholstery material store should have it. Buy the 2" thick stuff and just lay it over your seat. You will be amazed how well it works.

Did you remove the springs? Or the 2" foam over the spring assembly?

Over the springs and the original foam and fabric. Then just put a new seat cover over it.

I haven't been able to install them yet but I'm close. I've done a test mock up & it's probably going to involve modifying the existing mounts & then building a new bracket for the seats to bolt too which I will bolt to the factory mounting holes. I'll post an update once I get them installed.

chev seats

Several yrs ago I acquired buckets out of a mid 80s chev pickup (free), had my buddy reupholster them (free). Had to shim up one side of them to get level. A color matching console went in between.Had already gotten rid of the in cab gas tank.
