I had the vacuum pump quit on my 2005 F250 4x4 so i assumed there must be a leak somewhere (pump smelled like burnt plastic) Using a vacuum pump I suspect it to be the RF hub as it won't hold any kind of vacuum while the LF hub will hold 15 lbs for a few minutes. How big of a job is replacing the vacuum seals inside the 4x4 hubs? 2005 F250 4x4

It is for the most part, although you may have to swear a bit to get a stubborn hub out.

 

Do I need to buy the hub seal kits from Ford or are they just standard rubber o-rings that I can size match at an auto parts store?
