popping sound in front after brake pad change

I changed my brake pads after going by the book and they work fine. Now the front end makes a pop noise when I turn sometimes like a ball joint or something. Its a 2 wheel drive. 1998 F150 8cyl. now what? Maybe grease the inserts? Help!

Are you sure you put in the stainless steel spacers on the ends of the pads?
These take up the space otherwise the pads can move from one extreme to the other over about 3/16 of an inch and causing bang noise as they hit caliper frame.
Good luck.
