65 f100 power steering disc brake swap

Hello all,
New to the forum and could sure use a little help.

I'd like to find a donor truck in Phoenix area to nab the power steering and disc brakes off of...(have been advised that any 73-79 1/2 ton truck parts will bolt on)......rumor has it there once was a guy in Chandler off of Pecos that would chop a truck from the firewall forward and sell it for a few hundred dollars complete.

Wondering in anyone in the area might help a newbie find the parts I need or if anyone has heard of this fellow. The helpful dudes at So-Cal Speed shop told me of the fabled junker....

Any help would be appreciated on the topic!

And before you ask, i'll post a pic soon.

Thanks for your help!

Rick

The chapter leader is Bill W, owns like trucks to yours, lives in Tucson, posts in this forum.

Several other AZ members who post in this forum own like trucks. garbz2 (Dave) is the most knowledgeable, lives in Glendale.

also want to convert factory drums to disc on front

Hey Guys! This is actually my first post to the forum. I have a 65 step-side that I want to update the brakes to a two stage master cylinder, hopefully with the power boost. I would also like to update the front to disc brakes as the OP wants to do. I live in the Dallas Fort Worth area and am hopeful that there are some folks out there with some helpful information. Please and thanks in advance and have a great day!

rxbert Welcome to FTE & the Slicks Forum.

Find a 73-76 for V8 73-79 for 6 banger, donor truck with the tranny that you have or would like to upgrade to. Buy it and have all the parts needed for your upgrade. Don't have a place to put it, then rent one for a couple months. You will have a factory engineered power disc brake & power steering for your 65 bolt hole exchange.

Need to do a little work under the hood...but I'm inexperienced but a quick study...

When I rebuilt my triumph, I used the Haines book and a factory book to do it...so,

What book would you recommend for my 65 f100?

Anyone have any digital copies to share?

There are no Haynes equivalent manuals for these trucks. But then, these things are so stupid simple you probably won't need one. I get by using a vintage MOTOR shop manual for all trucks. It has the torque specs, timing info, etc I need for the engine.

For the disc brake conversion, here's my handy how-to so you won't need a book: f100discs

Thank you Ddavidv!!!!!!

That is exactly what I was looking for.....

Now for the power steering...

I bought the vintage ford shop manual, so I'll dig into that for everything else.

Thanks again!
