#14000 GAWR?
Shopping for an F450 for heavy RV towing. I see "#14000 GAWR" listed as an option on some Window Stickers (and not on others). I cannot seem to find a definition for what this means. Are they adding / changing a suspension or axle component such as a spring? Does anyone know?
Thanks!
Thanks!

The gross axle weight rating (GAWR) is the maximum distributed weight that may be supported by an axle of a road vehicle. Typically, GAWR is followed by either the letters FR or RR, which indicate front or rear axles respectively.

Thanks (and actually I goofed - the Window sticker says "14000 GVWR Package". I understand the acronyms - what I'm trying to ascertain is what Ford does when that option "package" is applied. Since they list it as an option, and some trucks do not have it listed, there must be an underlying modification. I want to know what that modification is.

The current 11 up F450 (pickup) is only 14,000 GVWR. The 13 F350 dually as Senix said is 14,000 GVWR. The 450 (pickup) isn't what it used to be in 08-10. It's an F350 with 4.30 gears, and wider front axle.

Must be the faux F450's the "real" ones are 16K or 16500 can't remember off hand, drivetrain and cab change that somewhat. Would also be why a F350 has the same rating.
Just checked the rebadged F350's, named F450's, have just under 3Klb less rear GVWR as a Cab and chassis F450. They also list a F350 as having 500lbs more rear GVWR than that rebadged F350/450. Front is listed as the same for them and and just over 1K less than a CC

2013 350s are at 13800 or 14000. 450 is 14000. 2008-2010 450s were 14500.
Insurance is a state-by-state deal. I would not think that every 450 in FL is insured as a commercial unit--your insurance company is not handling it correctly. I had no problem in TX with Farmers, then changed to Farm Bureau--they did not even have a 450 on their quote sheets. But I got it covered as a regular pickup after forcing them to go up the ladder to the main office. But then, maybe FL is just that much different...

I went through this insurance. Left USAA after 25 years because they didn't even list the 450. They also said they were trying to get away from even the 350. State Farm and Nationwide will insure the trucks as personal vehicles. Progressive treats it as a commercial vehicle. State Farm had the best rates and the coverage that I wanted.
