Is this truck worth it or not?
Looking for a 65-66 and found this one. It has a 1990 302 roller. Is that a good or desirable swap or something that should make me run? Price is high but what starting price isn't?

I would be hard pressed to pay that but considering all the time and money already invested and how much effort it will save you then yes, it is more than worth it.
The only stumbling block is what NumberDummy has stated many times.
Not many from the outside world consider these rigs desirable.
As cheap as I am, I would still check out this package optimistically.

I definitely understand it's more of a niche thing but to us, they're valuable! My father-in-law in huge into 70s Mavericks. Some may compare them to pintos but to him and his enthusiast club, they're valuable and trade/sell well within that group. It's worth as much as someone is willing to pay right?
That being said, I'm going to check out that package. He wants to include 4 total chassies + more spare parts. I can't physically haul or store that much so he said he'd deal with the two mostly picked-over rolling chassies (66 and 64) but he wants the 65 (complete truck, but not completely bolted together, so not running) and the 66 (main point of the deal) to stay together. I figure I can do that and either get the 65 running or just sell it immediately. Now I just have to find a time when I can drive 10+ hours round trip to do it!

Thanks Mazlem, I'll keep that in mind. One of my biggest hesitations right now is the 302 roller. I don't plan on making this thing a drag racer (will likely never see a track) but I do want to be able to make it fast. Am I going to be able to get that out of the 302 or would I be best served by ditching that engine and going with a big block? I love the sound of a big block with a cam at low idle...

My 5.0 came from a '92 Mustang GT rated at 225hp. I added the Ford Explorer (GT40 style intake said to be worth 20+ more hp) and JBA shorty headers. Other than that, it's stock. The short bed truck weighs around 3300lbs which is about the same as the '92 Mustang. My truck doesn't lack for power and I certainly don't miss the gas guzzling 352.
