I always start with electrical, either take pics of all the connections or tape and a marker to label them. then any liquid lines, coolant, fuel, etc. Pull the radiator to get it out of the way to not damage it, then free the motor from the mounts, then do a last check for any thing that was missed to disconnect, and pull it out. no real tricks that I've learned. If your pulling motor and trans as one then be prepared for all the trans fluid to dump out the tail, might even be easier to pull the grill and radiator support to not have to lift it so high. good luck take lots of pic before to be able to know what went where.

There's no real "trick" to removing an engine. Drain all the fluids first. Mark where EVERYTHING goes. Document, take pictures, then take more pictures, and document some more.
Disconnect everything that's attached to it and put it safely out of the way. Unbolt it from the motor mounts, unbolt it from the transmission, and then hook a hoist to it and slowly lift it out. If it tilts to one side while you're lifting, or tweaks, or anything funny, stop immediately and make sure you didn't miss something that was connected to it. Commonly missed things are power steering lines, ground straps, etc.
Make sure you have a strongly rated chain, find a good place to connect a chain to (big bolts through the links into the block or head works well), and never get under it while it's lifted.
Most importantly, take your time.
