Ok heres an idea thats crossed my mind a few times. What about cutting the frames between the bolt holes on the front cab mounts and splicing them there? should be the same width and thickness right there. Fish plate it and box the frame. Then all you have to do is drill the holes for the shackle hangers.

That actually isent a bad idea! Originaly I was planin on doin that at the rear cab mount but I think the front would be better. You said shackle hangers, did you mean cab mounts?

No. The cab mount holes will help you line up the frame pieces. The shackle hangers for the front leaf springs are behind the cab mount if im remembering right. Youll have to drill them in your stock sc frame.

Just do alot of research on how to cut the frame and make sure whoever welds it knows what they are doing

Different year but worth a look. I have not welded in the new CM yet...heck I have not worked on it for months.

Never done this before so this is winging it by comparing and measuring other trucks.

A few pics around page 4-5.

my intention was to buy or build a 6 foot flatbed with head rack and add a couple under bed toolboxes. the way i use my truck a short bed wont realy be a disadvantage. i will also be swaping over my 1 ton springs and d70 axil i know it wont be a 1 ton if i do this but it will still handle my trailers and equipment. the 4x4 already has a gooseneck under the bed that i plan to keep

If you go that route let me know. I may be interested in your frame and bed.
