292 camshaft won't slide out...

I can get it out of the cam bearings that it rides in but it jams up when I try to get it thru the next set? Any suggestions...

You need to make sure you are pulling it straight out. If it is tilted slightly in any direction, it won't move.

Try wiggling it around gently while pulling.

Put the cam gear back on and try rotating the cam while pulling. The cam gear also simply gives you something more substantial to hold onto.

Wish it was that simple... The next set of journals line up to slide thru the cam bearings but it just tightens up and bottoms out more or less...

got it... took some coaxing from the backside but it slid out... cam and bearings are being replaced so I decided a few friendly taps with a dead blow hammer wouldn't hurt...

292 blocks are know to wrap especially the ones that come out of the medium duty trucks. If you just install new cam bearings you might find out that the cam won't go back in or you will have a tight turning cam. You might have to have our cam journals line bored to get your cam to go back in and not running tight. I also read where some people had angled their cam bearings to compensate for the wrap.

The Offy is the worst but they are plentiful and it seems like there is always one on ebay.

If you like the looks of the 3-2's. I completely understand but if you want to get the most power, stick with a single 4 barrel and at least the ECZ-9425-B intake. Since you are considering 3-2s, even an aftermarket Mummert or Blue Thunder 4 barrel intake probably fits into the budget.
Even the best 3-2 intake, the Edelbrock 573, doesn't match the factory ECZ-9425-B intake. However, the Edelbrock or Edmunds intakes have great low end torque.

The 573 with Strombergs does make more HP and torque than the "B" manifold in the dyno test. I have both and I normally like the "B" manifold with a 500 cfm Edelbrock for "normal" driving but put the three Strombergs on for WOW factor at a cruise.

Like Charlie said, stay away from the Offy manifold. It is a 360° design and the lower ports tend to flood.

No offense intended to anyone, but a 3X2 setup isnt terribly unusual, especially at a car show. Some like Dennis' are unusual in their detail and precision, but most arent.

I have long suspected that the reason there seem to always be 3X2 intakes available is that guys set them up, dont like them after 1 or two years, and put them back on the market. IMHO.

One thing guys don't think about with a 3x2 setup is cost. Nowadays 3 new Stromberg 97's will run you ~$1350, not counting the cost of manifold, air cleaners, linkage, etc. The new Edelbrock 94's are about the same.

Sure you can get used carbs but first you have to buy good cores. And remember these carbs are 50+ years old. Some Strombergs are from the thirties. The cores are not going to be cheap. Take a look on ebay.

To rebuild them is not cheap either... you have to buy three of everything. Especially if you need new throttle shafts and bushings (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SBC-9581K/), jets, pumps, etc.

Most people would be happier with a single four barrel on a good manifold.

Don't get me wrong, I love the looks and dig the hell out of the sound when I open up the secondaries and not trying to talk anyone out of their plans. But there is also better places you could be spending your money. I would suggest you wait until after you get the truck running the way you want then get the 3 deuces.
