Need help identifying sensor

I have a 92 Ranger with the 4.0 engine in it. There is a sensor that goes thru the drivers side of the oil pan. I'm thinking it might be a knock sensor. Not sure cause I am a newbie on the 4.0 engines. I also have a 97 engine that does not have this sensor but has a casting on the side of the oil pan that could be drilled for the sensor. Ay help identifying it and where I could buy a new one. Thanks. Terry

It is an oil level sensor. You can get them cheaply at any auto parts store.
