Thanks for response. I have no intention to shift to a C 6 .I mearly mention that I havew seen a C6
with automatic trans. What I want to know is the recomended specification to acquire in order to have a successful change over, eg the type and number if necessary to use as replacement for the manual that it now has.

The E4OD automatic was used starting in 1989, so it's a possible swap into your truck. It's a 3 speed plus overdrive.

A C6 is an automatic transmission so I'm not sure what you are trying to say.
Your truck has a ZF 5-speed in it now and all you need to know to get another manual to replace it is that it comes from a HD truck meaning an F250 or larger since that was the only manual trans used.

to convert your truck to an automatic trans, you will need to find an automatic from a 460 4 wheel drive truck.
an E4OD will give you overdrive, but you will need to put an automatic computer in the truck also.
you need to use a 4 wheel drive transmission because the parking brake assembly mounts to the tail shaft of the trans where the transfer case normally goes on a 4X4, instead of in the rear brakes like the smaller trucks use. .
