Can you get the EPA mpg estimate????

Just to chime in here, my '13 F150 SB RegCab 5.0 gets around 16-17 around home and going to town (I lead a semi-rural existence..), and get 21-22 on the road doing a fairly steady 70mph, which I'm just tickled pink with.
Uh, PerryO, I noticed the "RIP" comment about your truck. Whahappenedtoit? Inquiring minds (AKA really nosy ones) just gotta know. And mainly concerned that nobody got hurt.

Here are a couple of pics from my trip to MO. 690 miles of freeway each way plus about 25 miles back and forth to base. Note the cruise is set. I'm 50 years old and have been driving Fords for 35 years. I love 'em, but this one not so much. This is a 2013 F150 SC 4x4 6 1/2'box 3.55 gears w/ecoboost. It's been to the shop 4x. Each time they say learn to drive here's an instruction sheet. One local dealer did tell me under their breath that Ford knows that a certain number of these have a problem, but they don't know what.
So now at 17,000 miles the mileage sucks, there is rust on the bumpers( it's been hand detailed 4x) and rust weeping out of the weather stripping seam of the driver's door opening, all of the tire lugs are cracking where the lug meets the tire body. My wife over ran the first tire rotation to 12,000 miles and the front tires were torn to hell( Dealer says a new truck shouldn't do that, but Ford says 6,000 miles so nothing will be done). Now with 4600 miles the front(previously rear) tire are cupped and ragged like when you have bad ball joints.
I just pulled my 6600lb camper 120 miles @ 60mph and got 8.4 mpg. My 03 KR SC w/5.4 and 3.73 gears got 10.5 pulling my old 5600lb camper and got just shy of 16 on the hwy.
It goes back to the shop tomorrow. Last week we had a salesman who wanted to look at it since all of the service guys were busy. He reset the dash when he got to speed and the best he do was 18 when he would coast. Maybe he's just blowin' smoke, but he says he's going to try to get the lemon law imposed. We'll see.
I just wanted to show some of the non-believers that poor mpg ecoboosts are not a myth. The problem is that I know at least 5 people who drive the same truck except 5 1/2' boxes that get high 19's and low 20's. I've seen their gauges when they have arrived at my house after 2 1/2 freeway drive to my house.

Just a FYI, The 16.4 was after over 20 miles of flat through Southern Il at 65mph and the cruise set. The truck also has a shutter at take off and horrible turbo lag. The service tech noted both today on the test drive and the mpg was just over 12 on that test run. He was not impressed and admitted that he was quite concerned. We said that's what we've been saying all along.

Mine is starting to come around a bit after 5K miles. I tow most of the time, so it is hard to get comparable numbers. I'm getting right around 10 pulling a 7x12 cargo trailer at 75 mph. and averaged around 17 highway at 75-80 the last long trip without the trailer. At 55 or 60, I'm pretty sure I would hit the EPA estimate.

780 miles on one tank of fuel. My Fuelly record shows 32.82 actual gallons into the tank at fill-up for 23.79 mpg. Note that it's almost 22 hours of driving.
I've done it once, though it was "cheating." My wife and I drove from Cody, WY where we filled up, to the north-east entrance into Yellowstone at Cook City, MT, south to Jackson, WY, spent 5 days driving around Jackson, the Grand Teton National Park, Yellowstone National Park, and then filled up just after this photo was taken at Mammoth Hot Springs on our way out of the park. Despite the mountain driving, the parks being limited to 45 mph and many of the blacktops' speed limits slowing to (I think) 50ish mph after dark and it was setting us up for good MPGs.
Lifetime average is 17.2 mpg which I'm happy with considering the amount of time I've spent on the road driving through the Dakotas at 80 MPH or idling to warm the truck up while living in ND last winter.
Edit: Also, in Iowa, Minnesota, North and South Dakota, I normally run 87 E10 fuel. Once we hit the mountains, fuel was dropping to 85 octane in some of the fuel stations we were stopping at. I wasn't sure if I should run the Ecoboost on 85 octane, so I stepped up to 91 ethanol free gas for most of the trip which is what this tank was done on. The lifetime average is indicative of my normal driving on E10 blends of fuel rather than straight gasoline.

I usually only look at my freeway milage. It has been windy here for forever and a day and my milage to work has not been the greatest. coming home has usually been better in the 22.7 mpg range at 65 in cruise. (of course with that windy tailwind. I used to average around 20-21 doing 65 mph on cruise control going one way to work which is 32 miles one way.)
I have honestly never tried running 93 octane in the truck, the price of fuel here is still high and I cannot see filling the tank up with 93 octane. It would cost me about $250,000
I am not at all disappointed with the fuel milage, my truck does MUCH better than my 2001 Sequoia did with the 4.6L motor (and would run circles around it!!). I have yet to hand calculate my milage...I just go by the lie-o-meter.
I was really into tracking my milage going to and from work for awhile but since I usually got around the same milage most of the time I have slacked on doing it as often...lol

Here is an update on my 13 screw EB w/3.55 electronic rear 6.5'bed 4x4. Each time it goes to the dealer and they plug in the laptop and drive they say it's getting around 16mpg which is acceptable. Then for the next 2-3 weeks it gets pretty good mileage and I have even gotten as high as 18mpg on one trip. Then it starts to fall and goes back to around 14-14.6mpg. This has happened at least 6x and I believe when the dealer hooks up to the computer it goes back into the learning mode. Then after so many start stop cycles or drive time it's done learning and goes back to the way it was. So "No codes no problems"
FF to now. at 1 mile the nav screen had quit, it was immediately repaired, 2 days later same thing. Dealer repaired with a flash. Dealer has no record of repairs, at 1200 or so miles the truck wouldn't start. Dealer arrived with a tow truck, tried to start it, but couldn't. Towed to their shop pulled off bat cables and reinstalled. The truck then started. They said "No codes, no problems." Truck has stumbled 2x now once while trying to get on a freeway from a side road. Almost caused a bad mess. Dealer said "No codes. No problem.", Truck shudders when taking off from a stop and is much worse when towing. At first they said "No codes. No problems." They then switched to saying "That's a characteristic of the 157" wheel base F150's" No problem. Now the truck has been in to the shop for nearly 40 days. One stretch of 23 days for no start. Ford engineer came on site 2x. Truck would not start each time the dealership showed up so it was towed to their shop. Battery was replaced 2x and we got "No codes. No problem." The dash screen goes blank and or switches on it's own and the nav screen will switch randomly and at least 4x now the nav screen has been seen lit up white while the truck is sitting in the driveway. Dealer says..... WAIT< WAIT< WAIT> you guessed it. "No Codes. No problem." JEEEZUS!! The front tires are torn to hell and all of the tire lugs are separating from the tires. Ford says that is a characteristic of the truck. I call BS! Goodyear got involved due to lug separation and said if I give them $436 they would put new tires on. I told the dealer that I wasn't going to throw $400+ at the truck until they could figure out why my tires are wearing so badly. That dealer said oh well and won't return phone calls or emails.
Much of the work as far as No Start, etc has been done at a dealer closer to home as I got tired of the 105mile round trip to the other dealer. They are still working with me, but all they want me to do is trade it and take a $20,000 loss.
We are done playing nice nice. The BBB Autoline has opened a case for us. We are scheduled for arbitration since Ford says the consideration would be for the shudder since the other issues weren't documented by the dealers until around 18,000 miles(even though much of it is service agreements prior to that) and they won't consider anything over 18,000 miles or 18 months. The truck has 22,000 on it currently. We should be hearing from the law firm tomorrow about our case. They claim to have a 98% success in Lemon Law cases with 95% of those never going to court. We'll see. Wish me and the other unlucky guys suffering similar maladies good luck.
