4wd CC conversions are getting fairly popular these days, and the use of a coil spring front end is a pretty good idea.
You are not necessarily limited to the D44 out of a bronco / F150, you can buy the weld on "wedges" to a larger axle to accomodate the radius arms.
Now speaking of radius arms, the frames are a little different on the crew cab trucks and you will need a longer than stock radius arm, but you should find this swap fairly straight foward and not too difficult to do.

Sounds like a fairly good idea....but

2wd steering is behind the i beams
4wd steering is in front of the axle

you will have to fab long radius arms like mentioned above or get a kit from www.cageoffroad.com they sell a long arm kit and you could use a Dana 60 then.

You also have to put in a track bar and change your steering box out. Another thing to consider is that you will have 5 lugs on a bronco front end, i'm sure the back of your cc is the 8 lug, so you'll either have to get different hubs for the bronco or a D44HD or D60 which both come with Leaf pads and not coil mounts.....but cage kit should resolve the coil mount issue.

Got any pictures of your CC?

I'm looking at doing the same thing with my 74 crew. I bought a 79 bronco and have all the stuff I need to convert it but I did notice the frame is a lot taller than the bronco. So the radius arm mounts won't line up correctly. I tried the link for cage and it didn't work. Can anyone recommend longer radius arms? I also wanted to ask if using the existing coil buckets would work ok or is it better to use the bronco buckets? I have both.

Zombie thread from 07....lol its ok, happens all the time. The cage link worked for me? You are deep into fabrication territory making 2wd into a 4wd.

Is there a big difference in the coil buckets? If so and you plan to use the bronco coil springs then you will need the bronco coil buckets.

Looks like cage is now bloody knuckles. Link just took me to a spam advert. I was hoping to find a set of radius arms that weren't more money than what I paid for the entire 4wd bronco donor.

I'm just about done with my conversion. I'm toying with different ideas for radius arms now. oddly enough the 2wd radius arm brackets appear to actually work really well as long as you don't want to lift it. I'm going to try to post pics on my profile in the next day or two

__You may have got more interest from others on here if you had started your own thread , instead of doing a hijack. You did notice this thread was 5 /6 years old , right ?__

So I shoulda started another thread thats already been started??? I guess im naive in thinking that people posting on the thread would continue to respond. Or I should have talked about the weather instead of the topic posted. Your chastising me for " hijacking " I havent found a thread on here that actually stays on topic..

What are you getting down there , rain ? We are getting some fall like weather here at last , been real dry for months . We need it to get control of the forest and range fires that have burned thousands of acres .

Yeah you can never know for sure if you should feed a stray dog ., never know when they will bite. -- You have a good day now down south today . --JIM

Jim, we have hardly had any dry weather this summer.. Ive lived here all my life (one hour north of mobile AL) and have never seen it rain like this.. it isn't flooding or necessarily storming, just WET... and with a 90 degree day like yesterday it gets about as humid as the amizon lol.. I have been seeing the fires on the news, I hate seeing so much destruction to the beautiful forests and homes up that way.. I pray for a break for you guys

Anywho, I just toss scraps from a distance to feel them strays out lol Thanks Jim, have a good one brother ~James

Thanks guys. I took your post as an insult and responded defensively. If you didnt mean it that way then thats where the confusion started. At this point im not sure what to think....

I didnt want to start a new thread talking about the same thing because ive seen way too many repeat threads on here and guys getting chastised by certain members on here for doing so. I thought i was continuing the aspects of the current thread. Since the radius arms are the major issue with the build i didnt think it was a "hijack" but it could be IDK... I also thought if i noted that i was going to put pics of my conversion it would save other people time in thier searching, because in all my searching of this website I haven't found anyone with pics showing a 2wd CREW CAB conversion using coil springs

So I get response with a bunch of "emoticons" saying I did something horribly wrong and defend myself. I then get another resonse with even more emoticons saying im NEWBIE.... and dont deserve help.

So what should I think?????? Is this how it is on this website????? Grown men that like to post snide comments with EMOTICONS.... instead of reacting the way we did maybe we should have realized that a persons real meaning is hard to know through text.

At this point though I stand by my response. A couple guys instead of politely suggesting a better way for a newbie to gain information they use emoticons and snide comments to make themselves feel better.
So when it comes to your help I think im better off without it. I dont need emoticons.

btw I hope your happy "Hijacking" this thread with the weather. So now everyone that reads this will see all this B.S. instead of the info and help they need. You should have pm'd me instead
