stick choke

What do you mean it "sounds like the choke is sticking"? Is the choke physically doing something (or not doing something), or is there some other problem and a "stuck choke" is someone else's attempt at describing a root cause?
What do you mean "when the truck is fixed"?
I can't tell you what you do or do not have to do because I don't understand the problem. And once the problem is identified, it will take whatever it takes to fix it.

I think my train of thought fell off the tracks when the truck is cold it runs very very rough (my neighbours compare it to an old john deere) it dosent seem to matter how long I let it idle but once its been driven a few blocks and run through the gear a few times it settles down and runs like a dream

Is the choke pull off working? As soon as you start the engine cold the choke plate should open about 1/4 inch to prevent the engine from flooding. The is controled by a vaccum operated device. Once the choke thermostate gets heat and opens then the choke pull off is not needed and is usually the reason the engine then runs normally untill the next cold start cycle. Could be as simple as out of adjustment to needing replaced as the diaphram has a hole in it and can not pull the choke open. They are easy to test and replace and as I recall you do not need to O/H the carb either.
