I dont think my clutch pedal could be bent, but there may be no other logical explanation for it hitting. It would take one big dude with a heavy foot to bend that over, but I suppose......come to think of it. It would have to been bent from the door side to the center of the cab. Now that sounds impossible. There is nothing that goes on the shaft between the pedal arm and the outside of the frame rail is there?

I'll bet if you post some pictures of your truck's clutch linkage someone might be able to see your issue and provide help.

Mine is a '53, but it should be the same. Below are pictures of the arm from under the frame and above the frame. Mine will hit the spring mount, but only when the clutch linkage is disconnected and the arm is allowed to fall well below where the floor board would be.

The "1" was to answer a different question some time back. It's pointing to the factory bushing sticking through the frame. There is no spacer there.

Now that you pointed that out, it makes perfect sense. The arm would never get that far down when everything is linked up and working. Hey Effie, is that a leather washer you have mounted between the stabalizer and the tranny mount?

It's some kind of really dense fiber almost like foam rubber.

I've had two '53 F100s and both of them had the dense fiber washer there. The one off this truck was in really poor shape. I was showing it to a guy that had a parts house that catered to vintage vehicles and he said he had a box of them. I asked if he would sell me the whole box and he said no, that wouldn't give anyone else a chance. He got the box to find it only had one in it and said "I guess I will sell you the whole box." He sold me the ring for $2. The box didn't have any part numbers on it so it wasn't any help. He retired last year and I don't know who he sold his inventory to. He sold it all as one big lot or I would have bought some of it.

Edit: That being said, I think leather would work. In fact I was going to cut a leather washer for it before I talked to him.

Mine was in poor shape too. I was sure it was leather so I had a boot maker punch one up for me. He charged me $2.00. I soaked it in oil for a couple weeks and have it ready to install. Thanks for your help and especially pointing out the obvious to me. I dont know how I missed that.

We actually talked about the leather/fiber ring earlier in this thread. You surmised mine might have been an after-market replacement. Since everyone else has leather I'm guessing you were right.

My dad and uncle had a garage in the mid-late 50s. He told me they put a few drops of oil on that ring when they serviced Ford trucks. He died back in 1994, and my uncle before that, so I can't ask if it was leather or fiber.

Do you have this book? 1948-56 Ford Truck Master Parts Catalog CD - HiPo Parts Garage / It is worth every penny and more.
But the above picture is Illustration Section 24, Page 45. Shows the brake and clutch pedals, but does not show the clutch linkage.

The clutch linkage: Illustration Section 75, Page 228.
