I havent been on here in awhile due to the fact that these forums have turned into a very expensive obsession. Anyways, I am thinking about getting into a diesel and was curious about how strict/ridiculous it is to get one to pass. I figured stock "shouldnt" be a problem but how far into mods can you go before you the big ol' F A I L ?
So to you diesel owners, can you offer up any experience or knowledge about this? For example, is an EGR delete going to make it fail? (I know you need a tuner to turn off the dummy light) DPF delete? would they have to visually see the straight pipe in order to fail you?
I am wondering if this process is going to be like how I had to get my current 06 F150 to pass......8" lift with 37's and 20% tint.....That is all I will say. haha
I have an 01 F350 running DP Tuner, SS injectors, 38R Turbo, stacks with no muffler. My truck is lifted as well. When going for a sticker I make sure that I am in my modified "stock" tune to insure the smoke opacity test. Any modification to the original emissions system is grounds for failing the truck. It is best to as around to find a station that "doesn't look to hard"
I have found that if you do the mods properly and don't skimp and cut corners, make it look professional and factory and as long as it passes safety and smoke opacity you should be all set.
01 F350 DRW, Autometer Gauges, Custom CAI with Petes Cover, 6" Miter Stacks, 38R Turbo, Casserly SS Injectors, Live tuned by DP-Tuner (F6) , and a bunch of other stuff some show, and some go. PAA #14 www.roadsidehelpnetwork.org RIP Robin Gone but not forgotten....RIP Mark.. I'll never forget you!!
