Thinking of visiting Yellowstone Park in mid-October
Thinking of visiting Yellowstone Park in mid-October, is most of a day (like 6 hours or so) enough to see some of the highlights, like Old Faithful? Any advice? I see from the weather it is colder there that time of year (colder than here any way), any chance of running into snow or other headaches like that?

It snowed in / around Yellowstone last night from what I've heard. Nothing major and it's all probably melted by now. Be prepared for anything... it could be 60 and sunny or 20, snowing and blowing.
Half a day really doesn't do Yellowstone justice, although you can see the highlights.. i.e. Old Faithful and Yellowstone Lake. So much more to see that you are sure to miss if you breeze right through though.
Personally, this is my favorite time of year to visit the High Country. Less tourists and a good chance to see wildlife. Some of the amenities will be closed in mid-October, but not a big deal if you are just passing through anyway.

We were going to visit there just before the fires broke out, and had to change our plans as well.. not the same situation as yours, but I hope things clear up quickly.
