1954 f100 Jalopy build

So I picked up a 1954 f100 that I am going to build into a rat rod truck. I am new to building old trucks but not new to wrenching. I will post pictures as I go here are few pics on how it currently sits. I am in northern Wisconsin so if there are guys in the area with parts I could be in interested let me know.

Welcome Diesel!

So, you've been a member since 2006 and are just piping up now? You've got some catching up to do!

Looks like your new truck can use some love to get it back on the road. Where abouts Up North?

Now THAT's what I call a lurker!

When you say "rat rod" what do you intend to do with the truck?

That's around 0.00042 posts per day. Yeah, that's a lurker.

Heck of a starting point!

Can you give some kind of clue on which way your are going to go with it. We've got all sorts of trucks around here ranging from bone stock factory originals to way off the charts customized rigs and everything in between. And, and here is the surpirsing part, for the most part everyone gets along and is pretty respectful of each other.

Have fun with it

Yeah my name is Jim and live in Shawano. I did not even know I was a member until I plugged in my email. I guess I joined when I got my 6.0.

I plan on getting this thing running and driving cheaply. I really like the patina look so I am going to keep as much original as possible. I do want to lower it some . I am also going to swap the 223 for a 272.

Well, welcome to FTE!

We'd love to see some pictures of your truck. Actually, we feed our addiction by viewing pics of these trucks.

Here'a one way to add pictures to a post.

Go to Photobucket.com and sign up for a free account. Then create an album for your truck. Upload any pics you want to post on FTE to that album. Have this album open on your computer when you want to post pics on FTE.

While you're making a post on FTE, select the pic you want to post from your Photobucket album. When the large version of the pic is open, right mouse click on it and select "View Image Info". The image info will be highlighted and will look something like this:
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...ghtsafter1.jpg

Copy that highlighted info (right click / copy).

When you have the spot in your post where you want the pic to be placed, select the "Insert Image" icon at the top of the post (looks like a mountain) and paste (right click / paste) the image info you copied in the highlighted box (just shows "http://" when it opens).

Your pic will be placed in the post.

Hope that helps.

Good to meet you Jim. Most of the Badger staters are in the Madison/ Milwaukee areas with a couple in the northwestern part (including needhelp49). There's a stray Yooper or two as well - including one closer to you in Red Granite.

When you said you would like to keep as close to stock as possible I could hear several hundred sighs of relief. Like Joe said our trucks run the gambit, but few like to see a good solid truck like yours cut to pieces, if that makes sense. Personally I love every truck that I've ever seen on this site. Welcome, or welcome back, what ever, cant wait to watch your project.

So I started tearing down the truck tonight and should be picking up a running 272 engine from a 56 truck. I hope to have a running drivable truck by May if possible.
