Thanks guys. It's a lot of work and I don't have as much tome to put into it as I wish I did, but as long as I can keep pecking away at it and making slow progress, I'll be happy.

I figured I'd take a bunch of pictures and try to document the process since, try as I might, I can't find a lot of good info out there with pictures of what this process looks like for an application like this. If there's sufficient interest, I may put together a thread on just the frame refinishing so it's easier to find in the future. Nobody wants to wade through 60+ pages of our BSing here to see what this looks like when I finally got started making some progress. This is more a long "build thread" for the truck anyway. If the Ospho and frame paint works out, then I may make a separate thread just for that.

Looking good Nate. I actually ran in to that problem with the paint I got for my trailer. It came from tractor supply too. Il take a pic of it but t was really watery on top and solid on bottom. It was on the primer. A little paint sure can make a difference on something.

Were you able to get it mixed up properly? I've heard quite a few complaints about that with the TSC paint. I asked them if they had a paint shaker they could mix it up with, but they don't...

So with this ospho stuff you don't have to do any other prep other than spray the top coat on? No scuffing or anything?

The info that I'm reading is that if you want it to be smooth on finish you have to scuff or sand (if you were using it for bodywork or something). Aside from that, no, you don't need to do any additional prep as far as adhesion is concerned. It actually etches the metal and promotes paint adhesion (supposedly). I can believe it at this point. The metal feels clean, bare and rough to the touch singe it was a pretty rough surface that I started with. Ospho isn't a paint or primer, it's just an acid that converts the rust and etches the surface.

If I could ever get some free time to get moving on this thing again, we'd see how paint sticks to the stuff. These night classes are KILLING me, or more specifically, I should say the busywork is killing me. I don't know how I'm gonna do this for another 14 months...

Seems like I should be by the time this is all done.

No, just going back to finish my Bachelors of Business. I've never had a job where it would do me any good before this one. Here, I'm an anomaly in the fact that I sneaked in without already having a 4 year degree. I don't really need one to do what I'm doing now, but unless I want to stay right here, getting that diploma is step 1. It should be worth it in the end, but in the mean time, I may lose my friggin' mind...

Yikes. That stuff looks like it's been sitting a LONG time to have separated like that. I guess we'll see shortly what mine looks like. I hope to shoot some paint this weekend if I can get things in line to do so.

Doesn't that ^^^^^ kind of stuff happen when paint is allowed to freeze, or get cold toward freezing?
