Got a few things done today. I brought the balancer down to the local machine shop and got it sleeved, forgot to take a pic but it's done, 12$. The new non-EGR intake is installed along with the carb and fuel hoses. I just mocked up the hose from the pump to carb but will eventually use SS braided hose I think.
I'm going to order locking header bolts as well as locking collector bolts tonight.
The headers come with gaskets, but was thinking about getting some better quality ones. Has anyone used Remflex gaskets before?
That engine looks great, what kind of paint is on the valve covers? or is it powder coated clear?
Thanks, you can't see it from this pic, but there's a big run in one of the covers. I painted them when it was still summer and it was getting dark out, so that's my excuse. I used Duplicolor cast aluminum and then Duplicolor clear engine enamel.
My engine is sporting Duplicolor engine enamel too!
Except I did a crappy prep job on the front of the heads, I'll fix that this summer.
Looks good, how did you set up your alternator without using the smog pump bracket? It looks like you don't have any bracket there.
Yeah, it's an ARP bolt kit. I had issues with the kit, there were multiple bolts missing or the wrong length. At first the gentleman on the phone at ARP didn't seem to friendly, but they did end up sending the correct and missing bolts.

Also, I see that you used the stock oil cap that runs back to the air cleaner. If you notice I am using a different type of oil cap. What's the difference between the two caps? Is there a benefit to the hose running to the cleaner?
