Can anyone help me with info as to where to find rear relay or control module that controls rear wiper motor on 2002 explorer xls.Motor stopped working and bought used one that had been tested and it doesn't work.I have three wires going to motor. I checked for voltage at connector unplugged from motor and had voltage both on low speed and the intermintent, but neither motor works. I am sure one of the two is ok.very puzzled. Thanks

Welcome to the forum!
There are some important differences between rear wiper motors between an early build and a late build 2002 Explorer. I'm not sure what the cutoff date is for each though.
On the early build, the rear wiper relay is in the rear Aux. Junction Box. The rear Aux. Junction Box is located in what is referred to as the Right Hand D-Pillar. From the diagram it appears to be on the passenger side just in front of the rear liftgate. Hopefully you'll find a little access panel for it.
The three wires to the wiper motor are White/Orange = rear window raise wiper open (switched open via the relay) on pin 1, Black = Ground (pin 2), and Violet/Yellow = wiper motor input on pin 3 and fused through 15A fuse F2.9. This wire should have power when the key is in the Run or Start positions.
For the late build there is no relay. The smarts for the rear wiper are internal to the wiper motor. For the late build the wiper motor assembly uses 4 wires. Since you mentioned yours has 3, I won't go in to details for the late build pinout.

thanks for info, I read your post and worked on problem. I have power on the green/violet wire but not the white/orange. I jumped the two wires and verified that motor was actually working. You said that swhite/orange comes from rear window raise wiper open relay. I have been troubleshooting with rear window raised to have better access, could that be why I have no power on white/orange wire. If that is the case and I try with the window closed and still no power, I have had a " door ajar light on" for sometime that I have been chasing, could that be connected to this in the sense that if the window is not showing to be closed then my motor would never have power on the white/orange wire?? Also I haven't found any access to the module inside the pillar.Do you know of anyone who has actually located this module? Thanks

There is a good chance the door ajar indication is related to the rear wiper not working. I'd suggest you clean or replace the switch for the rear glass ajar switch and see if that fixes the rear wiper as well.
I don't know what to tell you regarding identifying the true location of the module.
