What is the Best Tuner for 6.0L Pros/Cons

I know of a few like CTS, Edge, Banks and BullyDog but what are the pros and cons of them? Do they all allow on the fly program switching? I'm looking for something with an economy mode and tow mode, don't care about racing just want something to use for towing when i pull the boat or camper and boat and otherwise an economy mode for normal driving. I have a 06 f350 6.0L with auto transmission. My father in law has the same but manual and he's got the Edge with Juice and loves it but I figured I'd get opinions about all.

Any help and input is appreciated.

You need a flash tuner not shift on the fly, which WILL trash your transmission.

SCT hands down for a 6.0 Ford Powerstroke.

I recommend this guy for any kind of tuning you might need. Towing, economy, or just transmission. He sells the tuners and writes the tunes. He is VERY knowledgeable.

SCT custom tunes! As already stated, stay away from "shift on the fly".

npccpartsman gave you the best resource. Email Matt @ Gearhead and he will help you pick the right line-up of custom tunes....even sell you an SCT tuner (if you can't find one cheaper on Craigslist, etc..).

I get the best mileage with the hot tunes. The economy or tow tunes never seen to do quite as well.

Watch the used SCT on Craigslist. You don't want to get a locked unit
and have to pay to have it unlocked.

I use the SCT with tunes from Matt. Very happy with him and the people at

Have you towed with your 6.0 yet? It's a monster stock!
I came out of the Lehigh Valley over 25000 lb with my truck & trailer heading to Philadelphia, and was very impressed with power and 12.5 mpg 60-80 mph!

Yes, I've been towing a travel trailer and it does fine, but I know with a tune you can get a little better mileage, some extra power and better shift points which here in the mountains would probably come in handy.

Question....I have a Bully Dog Power Pup with Outlook monitor from yesteryear and has not been used for years, and from all I hear on here it should not be used because it screws up ECM units, etc. on the 6.0L.
Question is the Bully Dog tuner the same as a SCT tuner....upload programs, plug in to ODBII port and download???? Could one get tunes from Gearhead to BD tuner , then plug and play???
Also, whats the difference between a "locked" SCT tuner on ebay? What is the "locked / unlocked" about?
